For the next stop in our periodic segment highlighting Trikke Tours the world over, we travel to Athens, Greece, home of Scooterise, which was named the best company for City Tours at the 2018 Greek Tourism Awards.

Touring the ancient city on a modern day Trikke Light Electric Vehicle is a great way to beat the heat and traffic while taking in the sites of a region whose recorded history spans over 3400 years. It also provides a great opportunity for team-building exercises and much more. Here’s what else your Scooterise tour guides had to say about their tours in our Q&A:

Q: What are the advantages of taking a Scooterise Trikke tour, as opposed to other kinds of tours, including walking tours, bus tours, bike tours and other tours?
A: You get to cover a long distance in a relatively short time. We have the ability to cover the biggest part of Athens’ downtown area, i.e., our complete tour on Trikke covers approximately 8 kilometers of distance in 2 hours.

Also, during summer, weather conditions in Athens can be extremely hot and people prefer not to walk, especially during the afternoon. Doing a Trikke tour, you’re not walking, riding a bicycle or sweating! And (as opposed to bus tours), with a Trikke tour, you get to avoid the traffic conditions of the city centre.
Additionally, our Trikke tours are a really personalized experience – the majority of groups are small (8 people maximum). Thus, you get to enjoy, in fact, a private tour. The customer can stay at stops as long as one wants and enjoy riding at the pace he or she feels comfortable with. Tour guides provide the tourists with all the significant historical information about the stops, while, at the same time, trying to adjust to the customers’ needs. All in all, our company offers one-of-a-kind, fascinating tours along with personalized routes and schedules.

“Our customers can feel relaxed and comfortable while riding the Trikke and not feel tired or sick by the heat at all.”

Q: Which kind of people are best suited for Trikke tours?
A: Almost everyone can learn how to use a Trikke! It’s rare for someone not to be able to ride, however, one should be aware of one’s personal safety while riding. Trikke tours are a fun and adventurous way to discover Athens and we highly recommend this experience to families with children, couples or groups of friends.

Q: What are some of the things people might see on a Trikke tour that they might not see on other tours?
A: In Scooterise, we are driven by our motto, which is “see more, sweat less.” In the summer months, our customers can feel relaxed and comfortable while riding the Trikke and not feel tired or sick by the heat at all.

Q: Is riding an electric Trikke on a Trikke tour easy for most people to learn?
A: Our tour guides take great care in making sure each customer feels comfortable while riding. Before every tour, there is an orientation period where the customers learn how to use the Trikke. The tour starts only when the entire group feels comfortable driving, turning and stopping.
Because Trikkes have three points of balance, it’s easy for everyone to operate the vehicle and tour around Athens in a fun way.

Q: What kinds of reactions do you get from people who have been on your Trikke tour?
A: Most customers do not want the tours to end. When we get back to the office after each tour, everyone has big smiles on their faces and expresses their satisfaction.

Q: Are Trikke tours good for groups or organizations? Why?
A: For large groups and organizations, we offer excursions that are personalized to take advantage of this unique team-building experience. As the group drives together, we also have fun at the stops where the participants can ride freely and race against one another, which is lots of fun!

Q: How old do you have to be to go on a Trikke tour?
A: Little children do not have the ability to operate the vehicle, because they cannot reach the brakes or control the speed. We prefer children to be over some height in order to be able to control the vehicle and older than 8-9 years old.

Q: What are some of your favorite stops along your Trikke tour?
A: Zappeion is one of my favorite stops, because it is a large area with a smooth surface, making it suitable for riding without having to stop at traffic lights or worry about traffic. The place also offers tree shade, which is very welcomed during afternoon tours. Touring through the National Gardens is great, as well, because, it’s like an oasis in downtown Athens and a good way to avoid roads and traffic.
